OLYMPIA – Thurston County Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) is partnering with Providence Health & Services Southwest Washington (Providence) to host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for eligible county residents with a previously scheduled appointment at the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC) in Lacey on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021. This clinic was reported in the media last week as a mass vaccination site and event. 

Appointments for this clinic were filled on a first come, first served basis after being announced at 5 p.m. Monday afternoon through both Providence and PHSS social media and website channels. The 1,056 available appointment slots for the clinic were filled in less than 20 minutes. PHSS and Providence are not able to accept additional requests for appointments for this clinic. 

The vaccination clinic on Saturday is not open to those without previously scheduled appointments. PHSS and Providence are asking residents not to show up to get a vaccine unless they have a previously scheduled appointment with email confirmation from Providence. 

Patient confidentiality and privacy are the highest priorities for this event. PHSS and Providence request media not attend. They will be on site at the RAC for the duration of the clinic.

PHSS is planning to open mass vaccination site in mid-February and will be offering more vaccination events and community-based clinics to the public as vaccine supplies increase.  Unfortunately, due to very limited vaccine supply across the country and state, many sites are unable to meet the demands. 

In accordance with DOH vaccine phase guidelines, all people 65 and older, and people 50 and older living in multigenerational households are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. 

“We estimate that 70,000 county residents are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine during Phase 1 Tier B1,” said Thurston County Public Health and Social Services Director, Schelli Slaughter. “As of January 30, Thurston County health care providers cumulatively have administered 21,182 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. We hope that supplies will increase soon and we will be able to serve even more eligible residents.”

Thurston County residents can use the State Department of Health’s (DOH) online Find Your Phase tool to determine their eligibility to receive the vaccine and search for available vaccine appointments. Thurston County residents without internet access can call the Washington State Department of Health vaccine phone line at 888-856-5816 to receive assistance with making vaccine appointments as they become available. A Spanish language option is also available. If you are unable to reach DOH through their vaccine line, you may call Thurston County Public Health and Social Services at 360-867-2610 for assistance.

Due to the high call volume, DOH and PHSS are experiencing, please be patient if you are unable to receive immediate assistance. If you do have access to email, internet, or cell phone service, please use those methods in scheduling appointments before calling DOH or PHSS.
