OLYMPIA – On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, Thurston County staff will host an online, one-hour media education session from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

What: Thurston County Habitat Conservation Plan Media Education Session
When: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022
Attend Virtually:

County officials believe the Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) may soon be approved by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), the lead federal agency overseeing species recovery for local animals added to the federal Endangered Species Act (ESA) list in 2013 and 2014.

If the HCP is approved, what does that mean for the community? What changes can builders, species conservationists, and the community expect? The answers can be a bit complicated and easily misunderstood. This education session will speak directly to those questions. During this education session, the media will have access to lay-staff and experts who can answer general and specific questions, and point to online resources for additional facts, details, and contact information that could be helpful in a deadline situation.
