Open House and Public Hearing Scheduled for Development Regulations Related to the Thurston County Habitat Conservation Plan

OLYMPIA – The Thurston County Planning Commission will hold an online public hearing on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 7 p.m. or soon thereafter, to accept public testimony on proposed amendments to Thurston County Code Title 17 and Title 24 regarding the Thurston County Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP). 

What: Public Hearing – Proposed amendment to Title 17 Environmental and Title 24 Critical Areas Ordinance. 
When: Wednesday, April 6, 2022
Time: 7:00 p.m., or soon thereafter
Where: Virtual / Link to online meeting is at ThurstonHCP.org under News & Meetings

The hearing is to take public testimony on a proposal to amend Title 17 to add new Chapter 17.40, amend Chapter 17.20, and amend Title 24 Chapters: 20.01, 20.04, and 24.25 of the Thurston County Code, which will put the Habitat Conservation Plan into a regulatory framework for the county development code. It will also amend existing environmental code, including Title 24, the Critical Areas Ordinance.

The county will also host an online open house for those wishing to review the HCP documents and learn more about the plan.

How to Submit Public Comment

In-Person/Virtually: Those wishing to testify should join the virtual meeting and be heard. Testimony will be accepted at the April 6th online hearing. 

Written Comments: If unable to join online you may submit written or e-mail comments. Comments must be received no later than 4 p.m. on April 6, 2022.
