CONTACT:    Scot Keith, Public Works Communications and Outreach Supervisor, (360) 867-2375 or scot.keith@co.thurston.wa.us

OLYMPIA – Thurston County Public Works will close US 12, from Pecan Street SW to Old Highway 99 SW/Elderberry Street SW, for the paving of the new roundabout intersection at Sargent Road. Overnight closures are scheduled for May 2 and 3, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. During the closures, detours will be in place to guide motorists around the affected area.

The completion of the roundabout will add an additional north-south crossing of US 12, improving traffic flow for current and planned developments. The additional route option will enhance emergency response and provide better alternative routes during road maintenance. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2023.

The residents and businesses of Grand Mound, Rochester, and the surrounding area rely on US 12 daily to access services, jobs, and more. To learn more about this project, visit https://public-works-projects-thurston.hub.arcgis.com/pages/us-12-sargent-road.

For any questions or concerns regarding the traffic revisions or construction, contact Thurston County Construction Engineering & Support Manager Steve Bricker at steve.bricker@co.thurston.wa.us or 360-867-2300.

Drivers are reminded to follow posted speed limits and use caution while driving in work zones.
