​OLYMPIA – On Monday, December 13, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. the Thurston County Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials will hold a hearing to receive public testimony on the proposed 2022 salaries for Thurston County elected officials.

The Salary Commission will accept written comments until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021. Written comments may be submitted in person at 929 Lakeridge Drive SW, Room 117, mailed to Ruth Elder, Thurston County Human Resources, 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, Olympia WA 98502, or emailed to ruth.elder@co.thurston.wa.us.

Background: The Citizens' Commission on Salaries for Elected Officials sets the salaries of the Thurston County Commissioners and makes a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners regarding the salaries of the elected Assessor, Auditor, Clerk, Coroner, Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, and Treasurer.

The County Commissioners have the authority to approve the elected officials' salaries but do not have the authority to approve their own salaries. The Citizens' Commission submits the Commissioners' salary directly to the Auditor. The Board of County Commissioners must act on the recommended salaries.
