The Thurston County Canvassing Board certified the Rainier City Council Position No. 2 contest.  

The board certified Ryan Roth won the election by 1 vote. The votes did not change from the official results.

The mandatory manual recount matched the earlier certified count. A three-person counting board hand tallied ballots in each of Rainier’s two precincts. Those totals were checked against machine counts by a two-person verification board. Observers attended to watch the process in person.  
A manual recount occurs if the vote difference is less than 150 and less than ¼ of 1%. The total vote difference between the candidates was 1 and the percentage difference was .2%
