County engineers are working with consultants on a solution to a difficult problem under Country Club Road NW. A pipe, under the road at Green Cove Creek is blocking fish from returning to their spawning area.

OLYMPIA – Beginning Wednesday, December 8, the Thurston County Building and Development Center (BDC) is modifying operational hours due to unforeseen staffing circumstances. The BDC will operate under restricted hours for two weeks and expects to return to its regular operation hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm on Monday, December 20.

OLYMPIA – On Wednesday, December 1, 2021, the county manager received and accepted the resignation of Schelli Slaughter, Director of Thurston County’s Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) Department. Slaughter’s last day with the county will be January 3, 2022.

The Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing Monday, December 6, at 6 p.m. to receive public testimony on the 2022-2027 Thurston County Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The CIP is updated annually to provide information on planned capital facilities projects for the next six years.
