On May 23, 2023, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Ordinance #16280 known as the Code Clarifications & Corrections Amendment which impacts Titles 2, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25. The "Code Clarifications & Corrections Amendment" includes three (3) projects on the 2022-2023 Development Code Docket which are all county-initiated. The projects included in the proposal are:

  • A-13 - Miscellaneous Clerical Errors
  • A-28 - Clarification on Expansion of Non-Conforming Non-Residential Uses and Structures
  • A-29 - Update Sign Board Posting Procedures

Adopted Code Clarifications & Correction Amendment: Adopted Ordinance #16280

Code Update Includes

  • Miscellaneous Clerical Errors (Docket Item #A-13)

    • Correcting Community Planning & Economic Development’s name throughout TCC;
    • Relocating graphics/figures to the appropriate code section;
    • Correcting references to the Olympic Region Clean Air Agency;
    • Creating missing/revising definitions; and
    • Correcting spelling mistakes, incorrect references, and other clerical errors.
  • Clarification on Expansion of Non-Conforming Non-Residential Uses and Structures (Docket Item #A-28)

    • Amendments to TCC 20.54.070 include reorganization of the order of the code section and language authorizing the hearing examiner to increase building square footage and impervious surface. This amendment includes placing a maximum 15% increase approvable by the hearing examiner into development standards for an Academic School expansion application. item is intended to clarify regulations for expansion of academic schools.

  • Update Sign Board Posting Procedures (Docket Item #A-29)

    • Amendments to Thurston County Code include removing the sign board posting responsibility from County staff and placing it with the project applicant. Additional regulations were added to govern the placement on the property and confirmation of the installation.
