The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) is a 25 person Team comprised of: (10) Thurston County Deputies, (4) Lacey Police Officers, (4) Olympia Police Officers, (4) Tumwater Police Officers, (1) Yelm Police Officer, (1) Tactical Paramedic from Tumwater Fire Department, and (1) ER Doctor from St. Peter’s Hospital (sponsored by Medic One).

The SWAT Team is utilized throughout the county when the risk level is elevated beyond normal police responses. Whether it is a planned mission or an event that is currently evolving—the Thurston County SWAT Team responds with highly skilled deputies/officers in a professional manner to bring safety to the community and work towards a peaceful resolution for everyone.

The Team utilizes sound tactics in conjunction with technology to resolve the incidents while following State and National best practices.
