As BNSF Railways construction crews continue their work to replace the aging train trestle over Rainier Road Southeast and the Chehalis Western Trail, workers will need to close Rainier Road Southeast near the train trestle to all traffic on Thursday, July 23 and Thursday, July 30.
BNSF Railways began work on June 19 to replace the trestle that crosses Rainier Road Southeast just south of the Indian Summer Golf Course. The railroad company plans to coordinate the trestle replacement work with other construction projects and railroad closures in the area, and expects construction to last another four to six weeks. During construction, the one-mile section of the Chehalis Western Trail the one-mile section of the Chehalis Western Trail is closed with barricades placed on the trail near the construction site.
On Thursday, July 23 and Thursday, July 30, the Chehalis Western Trail will remain closed in the area, and crews will also need to close Rainier Road Southeast near the trestle to all traffic. Northbound traffic will be diverted west at Fir Tree Road Southeast, and north along Rich Road Southeast to Yelm Highway Southeast. Southbound traffic will be detoured east along Balustrade Boulevard Southeast to Yelm Highway Southeast, then south along Spurgeon Creek Road Southeast until it meets Rainier Road Southeast. Details of the road closure and a detour map are available at www.co.thurston.wa.us/publicworks/2015/CurrentAlerts.aspx
"We hope to keep the road closures to a minimum during BNSF's project, but while crews are in the area, we ask that drivers take it slow and help keep those workers safe," said Thurston County Road Operations Manager Lucy Mills. WHAT: Rainier Road SE Closed for BNSF Railways ConstructionWHERE:
