Thurston County Commissioners announce Ramiro Chavez as interim county manager

OLYMPIA - The Thurston County Commissioners have appointed Ramiro Chavez as interim county manager. Cliff Moore, County Manager, accepted the city manager position with the City of Yakima, and his last day with Thurston County will be Friday June 10. Chavez, Director of Thurston County Public Works, will begin transitioning into the position on Monday, June 6.

"He was an easy choice for us," said Commissioner Chair Sandra Romero. She said, "His leadership skills and knowledge of county government is very impressive."

Chavez has been serving in the Public Works Director role since August 2014. Prior to coming to Thurston County, he spent 23 years with Pierce County Public Works. He is a Professional Engineer (PE) and a Program Management Professional (PgMP).
