Dedication Ceremonies set for Mental Health Triage Center
Opening of the new facility set for noon August 25

OLYMPIA - Thurston and Mason County Commissioners and other local officials will dedicate the new Thurston-Mason County Mental Health Triage Center at noon on Thursday, August 25.

The 7,500 square foot facility is located at 3285 Ferguson St. SW in Tumwater. Construction and operation of the facility falls under the umbrella of The Thurston-Mason Behavioral Health Organization (TMBHO), a program of Thurston and Mason Counties.

An existing one-story building was converted into the 10-bed Triage Center. It will operate as a secure 24-hour, 7-days-per-week treatment facility, licensed by the Washington State Department of Health, to assist individuals with mental illness who are in crisis. One of the main goals of the program is to provide law enforcement an alternate location to take individuals who are suffering from mental health and/or substance issues, other than a jail cell. The facility is set to open September 1, 2016.

Tours of the Triage Center will be available after the ceremonies.
