Flooding Resource Packets Available-Building Inspections Begin


OLYMPIA – Thurston County has assembled information packets to help residents recover from recent floods. Packets will be available Friday, Dec. 7 at the following locations:

Rochester Community Center (ROOF)
10140 Highway 12 S.W. in Rochester

Rochester Fire Station
18344 Albany Street in Rochester

Rochester School Superintendent’s Office
9917 Highway 12 S.W. in Rochester

Grand Mound Fire Station
20411 Old Highway 99 in Grand Mound

Thurston County Courthouse, Permit Assistance Center
2000 Lakeridge Drive S.W., second floor of Building 1 in Olympia

Thurston County staff will also distribute packets as they work in flood-affected areas, and the information will be available on the Thurston County Emergency Management Web site at
www.co.thurston.wa.us/em.

The packets include information on how to report storm and flood damage; seek property-tax relief for destroyed property; safely clean up property and dispose of garbage and hazardous wastes; maintain septic systems and disinfect wells; test drinking water supplies; avoid health hazards; and connect with crisis services.

Also on Friday, Thurston County building inspectors will begin inspecting structures in flood affected areas. Information generated from the inspections will help the county request federal assistance.
