OLYMPIA - Due to inclement weather, the community No Shooting Zone meeting that had been scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday, February 24) has been rescheduled to next Tuesday, March 1st. The meeting next week will still occur in Building One, Room 152 of the Thurston County Courthouse from 7 to 9pm.-30-
An ordinance is being proposed that could expand current Controlled Shooting zones in areas of high residential densities and shorelines. County residents are encouraged to view and comment on the proposed ordinance. A copy of the ordinance and maps outlining the affected areas can be viewed at www.co.thurston.wa.us/bocc . In addition to the County Commissioners, representatives from the Thurston County Planning Department, Sheriff's Office, and GeoData will be on hand at next week's meeting to discuss current policies and procedures, to answer questions and receive feedback. A formal public hearing will be held in the near future.
