OLYMPIA – The Thurston County Superior Court announces the appointment of Nathan Kortokrax as Court Commissioner. Mr. Kortokrax’s initial assignment with Superior Court will include presiding over some family law, domestic violence, and dependency matters at the Family and Juvenile Court, as well as adult criminal preliminary appearances at the main courthouse campus.
Mr. Kortokrax is a graduate of the Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law. He previously served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Torts division of the Washington State Attorney General’s Office. He also practiced law at two local firms, Connolly, Tacon & Meserve and Taylor Law Group, where his practice focused on criminal, dependency, family law, and Guardian Ad Litem work. He has served as a commissioner pro tem for Thurston County Superior Court and as a judge pro tem for Thurston County District Court.
Mr. Kortokrax is filling a new full time Court Commissioner position recently created by the Board of County Commissioners based on caseload increases and through funding by the Thurston Mason Behavioral Health Organization (TMBHO) to support the mental health and substance use disorder hearings in Thurston County.
