Citizens can provide feedback on County budget priorities and other important issues
OLYMPIA – Thurston County is launching a new citizen engagement tool, using the OpenGov platform, in a continued effort to enhance transparency and provide ways for citizens to learn about and give feedback to their County government.
The first topic citizens can provide feedback on is the County budget. Citizens will first have the opportunity to learn about County services and how those services are funded. Then, the user will be able to show the County how they would allocate money in seven critical categories. The categories are:
- Economic Vitality
- General Government
- Health and Human Services
- Law and Justice
- Capital Budget
- Internal Services
Citizens can visit http://bit.ly/2oTeQMe to learn about the budget then select "Access the Survey" at the bottom to create their County budget.
The budgets they create will be shared with the Board of Commissioners during development of the next biennium budget.
"This tool provides our citizens with another way to provide their perspective on the County business and share with the Board of Commissioners their thoughts on important issues," said Ramiro Chavez, County Manager. "I am excited to see how this technology will help the County improve services and build public trust."
