Evacuation Advisory Continues for Residents in Nisqually Delta
Tacoma Power reduced water flow from the dam from 15,000 to 11,000cfs at 1p.m. today

OLYMPIA – The evacuation advisory instated yesterday through Thurston County Emergency Management for those living east of Durgin Road, Kuhlman Road, and Nisqually Cut-Off Road continues today. Tacoma Power reduced the flow from the La Grande Dam from 15,000 to 11,000 cubic feet of water per second at 1:00 p.m. today but waters will not begin to recede until approximately 9:00 p.m. this evening. The evacuation advisory could last until Sunday, February 9 due to flooded structures and impassable roads.

A shelter established by the American Red Cross at the Gwinwood Camp and Conference Center (6015 30th Ave. SE Lacey, WA 98503) will remain open until residents are able to return to their homes. The shelter is pet friendly and accessible for individuals with disabilities. Pets coming into the shelter must be crated and pet owners are encouraged to bring supplies such as food and water to care for them.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) and Lacey Fire staged swift water team members and the Zodiac to assist in evacuations. No injuries have been reported at this time. TCSO will remain in the area and will open roadways as they become passable. Residents are reminded to not drive around road closure signs or through flooded roads.

Residents are encouraged to follow Thurston County Emergency Management social media channels for regular updates:
