Substance Abuse the Subject of a Five County Conference


OLYMPIA – Officials from a five-county Southwest Washington area are invited to a one-day conference next month, to discuss substance abuse related issues. The free conference is called, “Drug Abuse in our Area- Meth and More” and is sponsored by the Thurston County Meth Action Team, TOGETHER! and the Washington State Methamphetamine Initiative. It is aimed at Law Enforcement, Treatment, Social Services, Education and Health professionals.

Highlights of the conference include-
  • Law Enforcement and Prosecution officials from Thurston, Lewis, Pacific, Mason and Grays Harbor Counties discussing “What is happening now”
  • Steve Freng from the Northwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program on “Prescription Drug Abuse and overall view”
  • A presentation on Drug Courts.
  • A Health Professionals panel – “What are we seeing in hospital emergency rooms and what we are doing.”


  • What- A free conference on substance abuse challenges in our area with lunch provided.
  • When- Thursday, April 22nd from 9:30am to 3:30pm
  • Where- Great Wolf Lodge, 20500 Old Highway 99 SW, Grand Mound, Washington
