Shelters Open

Olympia- Two overnight shelters are open in Thurston County to serve families hit by the winter storm. The first shelter is located at McLane Fire District Station 91 at 125 Delphi Road NW. A second shelter is located at the Yelm Moose Lodge. That address is 1117 West Yelm Avenue in Yelm. Both shelters are being run with assistance from the Mount Rainier chapter of the American Red Cross.

Those who wish to use a shelter to warm up are invited to stop by. They can also stay all night but will have to bring their own supplies.

Those supplies could include the following:
  • Blankets, sleeping bags, sleeping pads and pillows
  • Toiletries (toothpaste, personal hygiene items, and medications)
  • Extra clothing, towels, and washcloths
  • Comfort items for children (stuffed animals, toys, games, books, and blanket)
