Clean Out the Clutter This Weekend for Secondhand Safari Oct. 6

With only one week to go until the Thurston County Fair's annual Fall Secondhand Safari, this weekend is your chance to clean out the clutter in preparation to make a tidy sum at the October 6 community garage sale.

Outdoor spaces and covered spaces for the October 6 event are still available to anyone with gently used treasures to swap or sell. Call the Thurston County Fair Office at (360) 786-5453 to reserve your booth:
  • $25 for outdoor booth, approximately 10x10 feet

  • $40 for covered booth, approximately 10x10 feet

Set up for sellers will be on Friday, October 5 from noon to 10 p.m. The doors will be locked after set up Friday evening, and security will be on-site until the event opens Saturday.

If you're more of a collector than a cleaner, the Secondhand Safari will have just the thing you're looking for. Past Secondhand Safaris have brought over 100 vendors and 1,500 visitors, so avoid the crowds and snag that special something with early-bird admission for $2 from 8 to 9 a.m. Regular admission after 9 a.m. is only $1.

There will be plenty of buying, selling and swapping at Secondhand Safari, and new this year is your chance to donate to the Warm Winter Wear and Coat Drive. You can help Thurston County kids in need by donating the coats, gloves, hats and other winter gear your kids outgrew at the Community Youth Services booth. Your tax-deductible donation can be made from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and winter clothing donations will still be accepted from 1 to 3 p.m. in a collection box at the Community Youth Services booth. Representatives from Goodwill Industries will also be on hand throughout the day to accept donations (at their discretion), giving sellers the chance to donate any of their unsold items at the end of the day.
