Thurston County Announces WIN! Projects for Youth Groups

Thurston County Stream Team is pleased to announce that WIN! (Work Involvement Now!) project applications are available for 2013. Thurston County youth groups can apply for an opportunity to complete a service project and thus earn a $300 stipend. Groups must have a minimum of 10 youth participants, ages 8 to 18, with sufficient adult leadership to be eligible to apply. This program is available to non-profit youth groups that are able to provide a minimum of 40 aggregate hours of participation.

Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2012. For more information and to obtain an application, contact Stream Team at maunc@co.thurstonwa.us or (360)754-3355, ext.6377.

This program rewards youth groups that help protect local water resources, including area creeks, streams, parks and Puget Sound. Typical projects involve planting native trees and shrubs, spreading wood chips, removing invasive weeds, and marking storm drains. Projects typically take place on weekends.
