Tilley Road Bridge Closed Aug. 18 and 20 for Maintenance
T-2 crossing near 140th Ave. SW closed 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. next Monday and Wednesday

Public Works crews will be doing maintenance work on the T-2 Beaver Creek Bridge next week, which means the bridge will be closed to all traffic between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 20. The T-2 Beaver Creek Bridge is on South Tilley Road just north of 140th Ave. Southwest.

The bridge will be closed to all traffic so that crews can access a cracked pile cap that needs to be replaced. The maintenance work is expected to only require the 12-hour closures on Monday and Wednesday, but Thurston County Public Works staff members say that crews may also need to close the bridge for a period on Friday, August 22 if weather or other factors delay the work. The department will announce on Wednesday, August 20 if the work is complete or if a closure on Friday, August 22 is needed.

"This crack is not nearly as severe as the very serious crack that spans the entire pier on the L-4 Bridge," said Matt Unzelman, one of the engineers in the Public Works Department. "The work we're doing on the T-2 Bridge is considered maintenance work. We're addressing it now to avoid more costly repairs later on. Traffic flow should be back to normal within a week."

During the 12-hour closures next Monday and Wednesday, all traffic will need to use the detour on Reeder Road Southwest. The T-2 Bridge work and detour route will not affect the L-4 Bridge detour route—the T-2 detour route is east of I-5, and the L-4 Bridge detour route on Case Road Southwest is west of I-5.

Progress updates and additional information about the T-2 Beaver Creek Bridge maintenance work will be posted to the Road Maintenance page of the Thurston County Public Works website at www.co.thurston.wa.us/publicworks/Sections/MAINTENANCE/roadops.aspx. A map of the detour route on Reeder Road Southwest is also be available on the Road Maintenance web page.
