Evacuation Drill Impacts Thurston County Facilities and Guests
Drill to be held August 28

OLYMPIA - Some offices of Thurston County government will be briefly closed Thursday afternoon for an emergency preparedness drill. County employees at the main courthouse campus on Lakeridge Drive in Olympia will briefly practice an orderly evacuation of the buildings.

County spokesperson John Tennis says visitors to the courthouse at the time of the drill will be told what is happening and can proceed to 'gathering' areas or wait in their vehicle during the brief exercise. "We appreciate the patience of the public as we practice our reaction to an emergency. These drills help county workers prepare to protect the public and themselves in case of an emergency like an earthquake such as the one we just saw in California." County employees will be located inside and outside the buildings to assist the public during the drill.

  • WHAT: Evacuation Drill
  • WHERE: Thurston County Courthouse, 2000 Lakeridge Dr. SW Olympia
