CONTESTANTS WANTED for TCTV Talent Contest /Fund Raiser

OLYMPIA - Thurston Community Television (TCTV), Thurston County's local community media center, is seeking non-professional performing acts to enter TCTV’s second annual SHOW OFF! - Community Talent Contest.

"Last year's SHOW OFF! was a lot of fun for participants and the audience alike. We are hoping for an even better show this year." says Deborah Vinsel, TCTV Executive Director. "The acts should be appropriate for all ages. We've got categories for vocal, instrumental, combos, dance and a variety category for acts like comedians, jugglers, magic, etc. Ensembles can have up to 10 performers. If last year was any indication, we should see a wide variety of excellent talent." Those who want to enter should visit the TCTV web site, www.tctv.net, to download an application. The entry fee is $35. The deadline to sign up as a contestant for SHOW OFF! is September 20th .

A maximum of 40 acts will be accepted for the preliminary judging which will take place on Saturday, September 25th at the Olympia Ballroom in downtown Olympia. Twelve acts will be selected as finalists to appear on stage in the SHOW OFF! finals to be held at the Washington Center for Performing Arts on Saturday, November 6th. The SHOW OFF! finals will also be carried LIVE on the TCTV channels.

Two $500 cash awards will be given to the SHOW OFF! winners and awards will also be given to the second and third place winners. A distinguished panel of judges will pick the Judge's Choice winner. The audience at the theater and at home will pick the Audience Choice by making a pledge of support to TCTV in the name of their favorite act.

Vinsel says the event is a chance for the acts to get some recognition but it's also a fund raising event for TCTV. "Viewers and the audience at the theater can 'vote' for their favorite performer by making a contribution to TCTV. Every dollar is a vote so we encourage people to vote as many times as they want. We hope to raise money so we can continue to provide the quality community television services that Thurston County residents have come to expect from us." Tickets for the SHOW OFF! finals will be available at the Washington Center box office.

TCTV is also seeking sponsors for SHOW OFF! To find out more about sponsorships call TCTV at 360-956-3100. TCTV is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
