Public Invited to Observe Special Election Canvassing Board Meetings
Meetings on Feb. 18, 23 and 24 open to the public

OLYMPIA, WA – The Thurston County Auditor's Office invites citizens to attend any of the meetings of the February 10, 2015 Special Election canvassing boards:
  • Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 8:15 a.m.
  • Monday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m.

The February 18 and 23 canvassing board meetings will be held at the Ballot Processing Center, located at 2905 29th Avenue SW in Tumwater, 98512. The final canvassing board meeting will be held at the Thurston County Auditor's Office, located at 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW in Olympia 98502.

A canvassing board is a public entity that conducts a formal assessment, or "canvass," of an election. The assessment includes reviewing ballot and vote totals, determining the validity of challenged ballots, certifying the election, and administering any recount. The canvassing board consists of Auditor Mary Hall, Prosecuting Attorney Jon Tunheim and County Commissioner Cathy Wolfe, or their designees.

The Special Election will be certified at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, during the final meeting of the canvassing board.
