Mission
Risk Management’s mission is to protect Thurston County’s assets against accidental loss. Risk Management consults with and trains county personnel on methods to reduce the frequency and severity of exposures and improve workplace safety.
Services provided to Elected Offices and County Departments include but are not limited to:
- Bonds
- Damage claims against Thurston County
- Employee Safety & Risk Management Training
- Property and Casualty Insurance
- Workers’ Compensation

CHAPTER 4.96 RCW
The Thurston County Claim for Damages Form must be presented to the Human Resources Department where the Risk Management Division is physically located within the applicable period of limitations within which an action must be commenced. Prior to presenting the form please read the Claim for Damages Form Instructions.
The signed original Claim for Damages against Thurston County must be presented in person or mailed to the Thurston County Risk Manager. The Risk Manager is located in the Human Resources Office. Claim for Damages cannot be submitted electronically (via e-mail or fax).
