Thurston County Fireworks ban information for July 2021.

OLYMPIA – Per Thurston County Code 6.68.057, the county manager, after consulting with the fire marshal, or other elected officials as may be deemed appropriate, may prohibit the discharge of consumer fireworks during periods of extreme weather.

The Thurston County Fire Marshal, in consultation with the County Manager, Board of County Commissioners, Thurston County Director of Emergency Services, Department of Natural Resources, and the Olympic Region Clean Air Agency (ORCAA), determined current weather conditions within the county have met the fire danger level necessary to enact restrictions on outdoor burning to all lands regulated by Thurston County.

OLYMPIA – Thurston County Public Health and Social Services is advising no swimming at the Kenneydell Beach located at Kenneydell Park after recent water testing showed elevated levels of fecal coliform in the water. Warning signs have been posted at the public beach entrance. While the beach is not closed, health officials recommend people and pets stay out of the water.

OLYMPIA – Today, the Thurston County Board of Commissioners (BoCC) approved close to $8 million in funding after receiving a recommendation from the Regional Housing Council’s (RHC) request for proposals (RFP) to use Human Services Funds and Affordable Housing and Homeless Services Funds.
