District Court

District Court serves the community of Thurston County as a court of limited jurisdiction. This court hears misdemeanors, infractions, civil and small claims, protection orders, and name changes. Thurston County District Court also provides support through our Mental Health and Veteran’s Court and Probation services. The vision of District Court is Serving Justice Through Serving People.

In-person, phone, and LiveChat services are available Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm, with services closed during break and lunch periods.

Due to staff shortages, District Court will be reducing hours of operations for phone and LiveChat services. Effective March 4, 2024 – Phone and LiveChat services will not be provided on Thursday and Friday, between the hours of 12:00pm – 4:30pm. In-person services will continue during this partial closure. If you are paying a traffic ticket, requesting a deferral or mitigation of a traffic ticket, contesting a traffic ticket, or requesting public records, you don't have to come court.  Use the links to Respond to my Ticket or Records Requests available on this page. You can complete these transactions without coming to the courthouse.

HOW TO ADDRESS YOUR COURT CASE WITHOUT COMING TO COURT

If you have a court hearing scheduled, you may appear via Zoom instead of coming to the courthouse. If you did not get information in your summons about how to appear remotely, call the Court at 360-786-5450 or use the chat button at the bottom of this page to find out how. If you are appearing for a criminal matter, you must talk with your attorney first.

District Court Hearings Viewable Online

If you would like to observe a court hearing, please view the virtual calendar for court times and YouTube channel information.

Thurston County District Court holds virtual Civil Motion Hearings on Fridays at 1:30. Prior to filing you must either email the Civil Department or call them at 360-754-4102 to schedule your hearing date and receive instructions on filing your motion. Please provide your case number when contacting us to schedule. We cannot schedule a hearing without the case number.
