Prosecuting Attorney

The Juvenile Team handles all cases involving defendants under 18 years of age. The exception to this is if the crime warrants the youth be tried as an adult, in which case it would be referred to the General Felony Team.

The goal of the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney's Office Juvenile Team is to provide for community safety, youth accountability, and opportunities for juvenile rehabilitation.

This team works in collaboration with members from law enforcement, Juvenile Probation, the Clerk's Office, and Juvenile Court to ensure community safety and offender accountability while also providing the services and support necessary to assist our youth in becoming responsible citizens. Additionally, this team works to further serve the community by providing crime victims with victim advocates who assist the crime victim with support, information, and resources throughout the entire criminal case. The Juvenile Team consists of two deputy prosecuting attorneys, one paralegal, one legal assistant, and one victim advocate.

The Team is located at the Thurston County Family and Juvenile Court.

Some cases may be eligible for pre-trial Diversion as an alternative to prosecution.

The following is a typical schedule of events of Superior Court hearings. Any questions about time periods or case-specific items should be referred to the defense attorney handling the matter:

  • Detention Hearing
  • Charge
  • Arraignment
  • Pre-Trial Conference
