Thurston County Veterans Assistance Fund Logo

The Thurston County Veterans’ Assistance Program helps eligible veterans and family members with emergent financial assistance for expenses such as rent/housing, utilities, food and funeral expenses.

Eligibility: 

  • Meet the definition of "Veteran" as defined by RCW 73.08.005.
  • If you are a family member, you must also meet the definition of "Family" as defined by RCW 73.05.005.
  • Resident of Washington State for at least 6 months immediately prior to application.
  • Resident of Thurston County for at least 31 days immediately prior to application.
  • Income eligible.
  • Able to provide documentation proving eligibility, including verification of need.

How to Apply:

There are two ways to apply:

  1. Download and complete the Application and email it to tcveterans@co.thurston.wa.us to set up an eligibility appointment and to find out what documents to bring to the appointment
     
  2. Call the Veterans Assistance Program at 360-867-8236 to schedule an eligibility appointment and find out what documents to bring to the appointment.

VETERANS ADVISORY BOARD

Purpose

The purpose of the Veterans Advisory Board is to advise the Thurston County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) on the needs of local indigent veterans, the resources available to local indigent veterans and programs that could benefit the needs of local indigent veterans and their families. The Veterans Advisory Board also recommends to the Board of County Commissioners candidates for appointment to the advisory board.
