Dependency Guardian ad Litem Program

Thurston County Dependency Guardian ad Litem Program Volunteers speak up for abused and neglected children who are in the dependency court system. Thoroughly trained and appointed by a judge, Thurston County Dependency Guardian ad Litem Program investigate a child’s history, facilitate communication between systems, and advocate for a safe, permanent home for the children they represent.

In 2007 the Washington State Legislature allocated more money to Thurston County Dependency Guardian ad Litem Program programs across the state. This allowed Thurston County’s Program to expand to recruit, train and support more volunteers to ultimately serve more dependent children. The current staff consists of five full time employees.
