About Leonard Hernandez

Leonard Hernandez has spent the past 25 years working in local government for counties and cities. Starting at an entry level at the San Bernardino County Library, his love for public service propelled him to work his way up into positions such as County Librarian, Deputy Executive Officer, Chief Operating Office, and Chief Executive Officer. He also worked for the City of Riverside, California as a department head. Mr. Hernandez has a passion for seeing government come together and achieve outstanding results. 

Born and raised in California, he also spent some time working for the King County Library System, where his love for the Pacific Northwest was started. Mr. Hernandez has earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from California State University, Fullerton and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from Clarion University, Pennsylvania. Mr. Hernandez has been married for 24 years and has five wonderful and active children. He and his family are honored and excited to join the Thurston County team and live in one of the most beautiful places in the country.
