Public Health and Social Services

Thurston County Public Health and Social Services conducts school health and safety inspections each year at all public and private K-12 schools. Inspections include checking for compliance with existing state laws, identifying health and safety risks for children, reporting findings to school boards, and recommending priorities for compliance. Our department utilizes Chapter 246-366 WAC and the Health & Safety Guide for K-12 Schools In Washington (OSPI) as guidance for inspections.
