About Us
The Budget Office provides the Board of County Commissioners with financial information, forecasting, program and financial analysis, and ensures that budget processes comply with applicable laws. It is responsible for the biennial budget and for helping officers and departments prepare and administer their budgets.
County Budget
The budget is a legal document that provides offices and departments with the authority to incur obligations and pay bills. Thurston County adopts operating and capital budgets. The capital budget includes capital improvement projects such as road construction, expanding park facilities, or major upgrades to County buildings.

Moody’s Credit Rating Aa2 The Credit Overview states, in part, “Thurston County has a very high quality credit position. … Key credit factors include a robust financial position, an extensive tax base and a strong wealth and income profile.
